Definitely from the other side of the tracks. He was much taller than me, and very muscular and somewhat intimidating. To my relief, he spoke in a friendly tone, explaining that he made a mistake on the schedule too, and introduced himself as John. In my surprise I said hello and asked him if he was waiting for the bus too. I rounded the corner and was startled to find a man standing at the side of the building. Not much to do here for the next two hours, I thought as I paced around in front of the building. The bus wasn't due for another two hours. I was a little drunk and stoned, and realized, after checking the posted bus schedule in the semi-darkness, that I really screwed up. Some friends hurriedly dropped me off at the bus station in the middle of northern New Jersey, anxious to get back to the party they just left.
